Initiation of NJ Black Bear Chemical Sterilization Project
Millennium Wildlife Sciences is pleased to announce the initiation of a comprehensive plan to study non-lethal methods for black bear population control. Phase I involves safety and efficacy studies of Neutersol® (an FDA approved chemical sterilant) on captive adult male black bears. The studies will be conducted jointly by Dr. Robert Foglia (lead scientist and University of Pennsylvania staff veterinarian and reproductive specialist) and by Six Flags Great Adventure chief veterinarian William Rives.
Project scientists will be working closely with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection with an eye on developing an innovative long term plan for non-lethal black bear population control.
